Fashion Advice: Finding the Perfect Swimsuit

Is there a perfect swimsuit out there for you?

Have you spent countless, agonizing hours trying to find a suit that holds you in, but does not look like your grandmother’s bathing frock?
I’ve spent a lot of time in beach areas on both coasts of the United States, and Hawaii. I have seen it all ladies. The good the bad and the ugly. I often wonder what goes on in some people’s minds when they are picking out their swimwear. Perhaps there are no mirrors in the dressing rooms? ‘Letting it all hang out’ has crossed my mind on many occasions.

Don’t go near the water without reading these helpful hints.

• Darker colors will be more slenderizing
Prints will camouflage problem areas
Diagonal stripes (see photo) will always flatter a fuller body, especially in the mid section
Sparkles and lots of shine will make you appear larger
• Make sure the seat is not baggy. If this is a problem for you all the time then seek an alterations person that knows how to work with stretch fabric.
• Do not buy a suit too tight thinking it will stretch a size. You will end up with welts on your body from the tight elastic.
• Bend over, jump, sit in the suit. Every type of movement you do at the beach or pool you should try in the dressing room to make sure nothing pops out.
• Watch out for sagging tops, just as bad as saggy bras. Make sure you find a suit with good support for the “ladies”.
• Don’t forget the cover up when shopping. It would be a shame to kill your swimsuit look with a tattered t- shirt.
Happy Swimming,

Fashion Tips: Have you tried the new Dove deodorant?

I sometimes come across a fabulous product that I need to tell women. I have to truly believe in it and use it myself in order to write a review. Dove has launched a has an exciting new anti-perspirant deodorant that’s a new way to care for underarms…

Dove Visibly Smooth leaves you feeling stubble free for longer! Arriving on store shelves in May, it minimizes the appearance of hair when used over time and conditions underarm skin, all while providing the odor and wetness protection you expect from Dove deodorant. I had a chance to try it and it is fabulous. The odor and wetness protection is stellar. Another big plus is the no white reside too. So many products claim not leave a residue especially on dark clothing, and this Dove Visibly Smooth gets it right. With the warmer weather approaching it is nice not to have to worry about whether or not your deodorant is working. There are so may other things to think about such as:” What am I going to wear today that will get me that promotion?”

Go get um tigress!

5 Dining Etiquette Tips: Don’t leave home without them!

The evening is set. Dinner at a fabulous LA hot spot. Are your table manners up to snuff? These tips may be old hat to some of you, or maybe you have forgotten a few things along the way. “Brush ups” are always a good thing!

Here are my top 5 tips to keep you looking savvy while dining

1. Cell phones at the table do not make for a great dining experience. If you must check or text message, do so in the restroom or lobby, not at the table.

2. Don’t act like “it’s all about ME, ME, ME”. Engage your dining companion in conversation that is balance concerning both of you.

3. Cut food up one piece at a time before eating. Bread should be broken into small bites, one at a time, then buttered and eaten. No slathering the big hunk of bread with butter then stuffing it in your month.

4. Food stuck in teeth? “Get ye to the restroom”, pronto. No excavating expeditions at the table. Always carry a toothpick or floss. And don’t use the “ol’ straw trick” as a toothpick. Keep breath mints handy too!

5. Napkins should be left on the chair if you need to excuse yourself. Soiled side down preferably. No one wants to see gravy stains. When the meal is finished, loosely place napkin on the left side of plate, not on the plate as you push away saying, “Wow, I am full”. Definitely uncool. Napkins should not be used for blowing your nose either, über gross.

Are you nodding your head that you knew this info or have you been enlightened? In any case, enjoy yourself at your next dinner date.

Fashion Tips: How to Dress Long and Lean

Feeling vertically challenged?

Perhaps the long gone New Years resolution to lose those pesky pounds has left your thought process. Well do not worry, I have some dressing tips to make you look tall and slim without having to wear skyscraper heels and going on a crash diet.

Wear V necks or any vertical neckline will elongate your neck
Wear vertical pattern and seams. The eye will automatically look at the vertical line and you will appear long and lean
Wear monochromatic  outfit or  different values of the same color. Not boring if you mix up the textures. An elegant look
Wear long necklaces. Avoid short choker styles especially if you have a short neck
Wear scarves that are oblong, and let at least one end hang vertically
Wear jackets or cardigans that are single breasted. Double breasted will make you look square (think Sponge Bob). Leave the jacket unbuttoned for greater slimming effect
Wear clothes that skim your body. It is not slimming to think a form fitting top will hold you in and be controlling. Just the opposite happens. You will look heavier.
Wear clothes that are of fluid soft fabrics rather then bulky nubby tweeds
Wear  shoes close to your skin tone to keep that long leg line going
