I love books written by women who look amazing, and age is just a number. That sure is the case with Raquel Welch and her new book, Beyond the Cleavage.
When I was a young girl, I thought she was the most glamourous women in the world.
The 60′s sex symbol and icon is now 69 years young.
Wow, I was amazed when I saw her on Oprah. Raquel knows how to take care of herself and follows a strict regimen that she outlines in her book, even down to the supplements she takes.
Raquel has fabulous health and beauty tips, especially concerning make- up. She is a master, and her make-up is flawless. Years ago when I was working on a TV studio lot, Raquel came to tape an interview segment. The TV show make -up artists were dismissed, and she sat for hours in front of an über magnifying mirror applying her “face”. It was the talk of the studio.
Her stories are terrific anecdotes, and are a revealing look in to old Hollywood and the players.
What I am most impressed with are her remarks how women are viewed at a certain age and how “American pop culture isn’t very sympathetic” and “Standards are higher for older women now that we’re better preserved than previous generations.”
I love her views on age appropriate dressing! I have been conveying these same ideas to my clients for years. “Show a little restraint, ladies. Thought you may look good for your age, let’s not lose touch with reality.” says Raquel.
Right on Rocky!
