Tips For a Winning First Impression

You never get a second chance to make a first impression!

Those words speak volumes, and are so true. Whether you are in a business or social situation we are being judged by the way we look in less then 7 seconds of a first meeting- not a very long time at all, and no chance to even let our marvelous qualities and charm shine through. You don’t need to show up wearing the latest designer clothing, head to toe, that will make your credit card smoke. What you do want to do is put your best foot forward, and feel you are dressed appropriately and most important that you feel confident in your choices. When we look good, we feel good, AND make a great and lasting impression. Everyone can look his or her best no matter what your shape, size or budget.
It just takes a bit of thought and preparation on your part. What I do know is that women will look men over from the top of their head down to their shoes. Yes, shoes are often how men are judged, along with their watches. So if your shoes are grungy and worn out, your attention to detail may not be present. Remember, it’s all in the details, and women are detailed oriented, it is burned in our DNA, like eating chocolate. Dirty or stained clothing is not going to make you a winner either. Women, watch out for your feet too. There are men who love to give you the once over. If your toes have not seen a pedicurist in awhile, and you are wearing your killer open toed shoes, all I can say is…big, bold image breaker. Seven Tips to Disguise Your ‘Cankles’

Just when you thought you had your muffin top under control, I hope you are wearing TC Shapewear to help with your torso troubles!
I was recently watching a Today Show segment on “cankles”. The new body part obsession. It  seems women are turning to their plastic surgeons to correct this problem. YIKES, Ouch. Is the surgery/recovery worse than the cankles?
So what can you do to disguise and minimize without surgery?
Here are my tips to a sexier leg line now that Summer sandals are on the way

  1. Ankle pants and leggings draw attention to this area
  2. Delicate ankle straps and bootie shoes can often emphasize a cankle. A bit of a pointed toe shoe is best to give a long leg line
  3. Avoid ankle bracelets. NO-NO, might as well wear an arrow pointing to your ankle
  4. Strippy/strappy shoes look out of balance, stick to a more substantial shoe
  5. Dark tights a great camouflage trick, patterned tights add bulk so avoid
  6. Try a tanning spray (see below). Troubling body parts always look better with a tan!
